Photo A Day

One of my new years resolutions was to take more photos, especially of us as a family. I also started taking a photo a day for Project 365, which I have kept up to date with. I have found that I have trouble coming up with things to photograph that I haven't done before. While scrolling through Pinterest, I came across this photo a day challenge for February from the Fat Mum Slim blog.

And I am going to give it a go. I'll record it on the Project 365 app on my iPad but will share some of the photos on here and on Facebook. We'll see how I go.

I'll be back later with a couple of exciting things to share....

Fixated

Trying to get a response out of the kids when they are watching TV is virtually impossible. I noticed Lachlan the other morning, while watching his favourite shows, and the look he gets on his face. It's like his mind has gone blank as he stares, fixated on the TV. I took a photo and have scrapped it using some Basic Grey 'Little Black Dress' from the Little Scrapbook Shop.

I have used the blacks and greys from this range and added some Mister Hueys, paint and ink on the background. And some washi tape, of course! Here's a close up:

The chippy camera is from Echo Park's 'Happy Days' range. I've used up some old Basic Grey chipboard alphas as well. They were the perfect colour.
I'm looking forward to doing a lot more creating with this range. Hopefully I will get a chance over the weekend.

Happy Australia Day to all my Aussie readers! I hope you are having a great day whatever you are doing. We are heading to the neighbours for a BBQ and a few drinks. Enjoy!!

Hmmm....

So....I scrapped. And I'm not sure if I like it. :( It really doesn't pay to have a break from scrapping. I think I've lost my mojo. Anyway, seeing as though I haven't updated my blog for a while, I thought I would share it anyway. So here it is:
I've used October Afternoon 'Farmhouse' again. It seemed to suit my photos. I took this one of Luke and Darcie the other morning while we were waiting for the school bus to come and pick up the other 2 kids for their first day of school. And I've done a little machine stitching again as well.

Been AWOL

And I'm having some serious paper and glue withdrawals! We have been doing another block of swimming lessons with the kids - yep 3 hours driving a day for the last week. And Luke has been away working so I have been doing it all myself. I am buggered!!

I'm hoping to hit my scrap desk over the weekend. School goes back on Monday too! It's going to be weird having 2 kids at school this year. They are both looking forward to going back. :)

I'll leave you with a little sneak peak of a layout for a secret squirrel gig. All will be revealed soon. ;)
Have a good weekend! Thanks for stopping by...

Your Strength

As you probably already know, my Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer early last year. She has had a pretty rough time with treatment and subsequent side effects. But through it all, and even now, she still manages to smile. This is a 'just because' layout about that:
I've used a couple of different mist for the background. I'm loving the combination of yellow, teal and black at the moment. I've used up some old scraps of Fancy Pants papers and die-cuts on this one. Here is a close up of my journalling:

And a close up of my rolled rose:

You

I'm back again with another layout share. This time it's a 'just because' layout. I have used products that were just sitting around on my desk and it only took about 10 minutes to put together. Love scrapping like that!

I have used some American Crafts paper for the background and added a little corrugated cardboard that I had run through my Big Shot. There is a little bit of inspiration from Tara Scobie on this layout.

And here's another close up:

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. We only have one more week before the kids head back to school. :( And we have another block of swimming lessons next week. I am making the most of this weekend and hitting my scrap desk. ;)

Scrapping My Baby Girl

Darcie will be 3 in May and she has already decided that she no longer needs a sleep through the day. That can be a good thing but most times it's not that pleasant dealing with her tiredness and tantrums in the late afternoon/evenings when the rest of us are pretty tired too. *sigh*

But every so often, she will just crash out - like yesterday she went all quiet and when I looked over at her, she had gone to sleep sitting up on the lounge! lol She did the same thing on Boxing Day after a very big Christmas Day. She was sitting on my Mums' lap and drifted off before anyone had even noticed. It was lovely seeing them cuddled up together - I had to grab the camera.
This is my layout for the January challenge at Scrap The Girls. This months challenge is Monochromatic. I went with red. I had a bit of trouble getting this layout to work for some reason. I couldn't get my photo to look right with my papers (that I'd already stuck down!) So I flipped the layout on its side and it seemed to be ok. :)

There are lots of polka dots, a few stripes and some hearts. And I've been able to use up some old stuff too - like these Thickers and the Cosmo Cricket tiny alphas.

Bell Family Cousins

Our kids love catching up with their cousins. They don't get to do it very often because of distance but when they do, it's like they only saw them yesterday. They are all growing up way too fast so when all the cousins were together on New Years Eve, I got them to pose for a photo. I just love the way the boys have their arms around each other. :)

This is my layout for the January 1st sketch at Stuck?! This is the sketch:

As you can see, I have changed it a little by swapping paper for where the photos should be and a photo for the paper. I have used some October Afternoon 'Farmhouse' on this layout. And I've used my sewing machine again!!

I love the mix of colours and patterns in this paper range. It matched these Thickers perfectly.

Inspiration

I have signed up for Nathalie Kalbach's Summit 2012 Creative Jumpstart. I am loving all the new inspiration I am getting from some AMAZING artists. The video that has inspired me the most was the first one by Dina Wakley - her art journal pages are awesome. I don't consider myself to be all that 'arty' but, after seeing Dina's warm ups, I was inspired to get messy with paints, mists and stamps. And while art journals aren't really my thing, I decided to incorporate the techniques on my scrapbook pages. I had a piece of cardstock on my desk that I had sprayed with some mist for another project. I didn't like the way it looked so had started another. Once that layout was finished, I went back to the original piece of cardstock sitting on my desk, and started having a 'play'. And here is the finished product (with a little bit of Lou Nelson inspiration there as well).

I'm not sure that I am all that happy with it, but for a first attempt, I think it's ok. The colours don't really go all that well together. I don't have many supplies such as stamps, inks etc but I think I might need to change that! lol And here are some close ups:

Do You Love Washi Tape?

I do! I am using it on just about everything lately! lol And while scrapping a layout for the Little Scrapbook Shop, I came up with a new way to use it!

I had some wooden letters from Pink Paislee - you can find them in the LSBS shop here. I then covered them with strips of tape - a bit like wallpapering, I guess!

Turn it over and trim around the edges.

It doesn't matter if you can't trim right up close to the edge - just fold it over!

And voila! You have a new look for your letter:

You could also use this technique on chipboard too. Here's a little sneak peak of how I've use them on a layout - all will be revealed shortly ;)

I Dare Ya!!

As you know, I had a bit of a clean up of my scrap space last week. I had thrown out my old box of paper scraps because I never used them. But I did start a new scrap box with some of my recent papers. When I saw the challenge at the new challenge blog Daring You To Scrap, I knew almost instantly what I wanted to do. The challenge is to use paper scraps as your background. So here is my layout:
I roughly cut strips of paper and then layered them on the cardstock. I then pulled out my sewing machine and added some stitching. The kite is from A Lil Somethin.

And I've used some some of my older alphas - some Thickers and Cosmo Cricket tiny alphas:

Hellloooo Mojo!!

I started cleaning up my scrap desk after the Savvy CC and noticed that some of the things on my desk were the perfect colour for this months White With 1 challenge - white + lime + buttons. I went digging for a few more things and came up with this layout:
It was my New Years Resolution this year to take more pics of us altogether as a family. I got out the tripod, set the timer and took some snaps. And of course we had to do a silly one! Not sure what happened to Michala - perhaps she knows how crazy we are and didn't want to be a part of it! lol So here's some close ups - I've used up some old BG chipboard alphas and Sass Lass alpha stickers for the title:

I found some twine in just the right colour and wrapped it around the buttons (thanks Lou Nelson for the inspiration):

I have used lots of paint that I flicked and stamped with bubble wrap. And I've used some Pink Paislee tissue paper in the background. There is such a mix of manufacturers on this layout. I don't think I have done that for a while. Using up my old stash has really kicked started the mojo.

More Savvy CC Layouts

I have managed to get the other 2 CC challenges completed from the Scrapbook Savvy Cybercrop. This is my layout for Sara's challenge - to use the colours red, blue, green and white.
While cleaning up my scrap space the other day, I realised that I need to start using up some of the older stuff in my stash. I have used some Doodlebug alpha stickers and some BG chippy alphas for my title.

And this is my layout for Kerryn's puzzle challenge. The puzzle pieces were a star, a bow, a christmas tree, a music note and a ticket.

I have used mostly OA Holiday Style on these layouts. And here's another close up:

And once again, I've used up some more of my older stash:

First Layouts For 2012!

It's the first day of the New Year and I have been scrapping already! I've been having a bit of a clean up of my scrap space. Now that that was finished I decided to make it messy again! lol This is my take on the January challenge at Scrap The Boys - scrap a layout about your boys favourite summer past time. At the moment for Lachlan, it's swimming!

After having a week block of swimming lessons he has gone from having no confidence in the water to being a little fish! We have been swimming a few times since then and he has gone ahead in leaps and bounds. Here's a bit of a close up:
This next layout is for Tara's challenge over at the Scrapbook Savvy cybercrop. It's a sketch challenge:

I've used some October Afternoon 'Holiday Style' on this one. I took this photo of Darcie on Christmas Day in her new dress. I can't believe how grown up she looks in this pic - she certainly doesn't look like a 2 year old to me!! :(
I've used some more Dymo tape for my journalling.

I hope you all had a great New Years. We just had a quiet one at home. The kids stayed up to watch the 9pm fireworks - they thought that was a bit of a treat! lol We were in bed by 10.30pm! How exciting are we?? lol
